Today we have four finals in challenger tour and there are really good match-up's everywhere. I wanted to analyze these finals. So, here we go:
Mouilleron-Le-Captif: (8) Marsel Ilhan - (5) Pierre-Hugues Herbert
My fellow countryman Marsel Ilhan is in really good form and played 5 or 6 challenger quarter-finals after US Open. After a lot of hard work and some good tennis, he will be finally in top 100 tomorrow's ranking. So, it means direct Australian Open entry for him which is very good! Marsel played good tennis in here, too. He beat Borna Coric in two sets who just beat Rafael Nadal at Basel. After that in semis he made quick job of Romanian's Victor Hanescu.
Pierre-Hugues Herbert will get the crowd's support as he is Frenchman! So, this is a big advantage for him. He actually played tough matches. Played very close one against Hemery in second round. Yesterday's semi final against Tobias Kamke was very tough also. He saved match point against him on serve, then finally won in the third set after a very long match.
Herbert's serve is really something. So, that will be a big advantage for him but for me, Ilhan is playing better tennis right now and i think that he has slightly edge in this match-up. We'll see.
Bratislava: Farrukh Dustov - (7) Peter Gojowczyk
First of all... Damn, this Bratislava court is very quick! It was really quick that, big servers loved it so much! Dustov and Gojowczyk are players like that. They have big serve and flat strokes, so they loved this conditions in Slovakia. Both played tough matches and beaten really good players, so both got into the final as deservedly.
Dustov beaten Sijsling in a close match in semi-final. Gojowczyk beaten Lukas Lacko who is the second seed of the tournament and crowd's favourite. Even if Peter is the favourite, i don't think this will be an easy match. Farrukh can make some damage with his service. This will be a close one and for sure, Gojowczyk is the favourite.
Ortisei: (1) Andreas Seppi - (7) Matthias Bachinger
Sweet home sweet... For Seppi, for sure! This is his home tournament and he's defending champion. Although, i didn't like the tennis he played all week. He played players against outside of top 200 and got into the final easily. He really is not tested so far!
Matthias played tough matches. He beaten Dustin Brown in semi final against 2 and 2 in a fashion. His game suits on indoor hard. Flat stroke and big serve like his countryman Gojowczyk. (and both got into the final in the same week as 7th seed!) I think that Matthias could shock the Italian crowd here.
Knoxville: (3) Samuel Groth - (2) Adrian Mannarino
Meh... To be honest, i couldn't watch too many matches from Knoxville this week as my eye was on other challenger tournaments. But i saw yesterday's semi final matches. Both won in two sets but their rivals were really on their bad days. So i don't know what to expect from today's final match. Sam has a big serve... So even with that he can keep a close match against Adrian. I think Sam will attack and Adrian will try to counter-attack. If Sam is on his day, he wins. If he doesn't then Adrian will prevail easily with his constancy.
